LOUISE C. ROOD, 90, of Huntington, W.Va., passed away Tuesday, August 8, 2017, at Cabell Huntington Hospital. She was born in Huntington on June 6, 1927, the daughter of the late Hallie Malcolm Atkinson and Charles C. Malcolm, and stepfather Kenneth A. Atkinson. She is survived by a son, Michael J. Rood (Joy), and daughter, Karen L. Steele; granddaughter, Amy K. Steele Runyan (Chris), and great-grandson, Tanner Runyan, who gave her great joy and love. She was a longtime volunteer at the American Red Cross in Huntington and was a member of First Presbyterian Church for over 55 years, where she was also a member of the choir for years. The family wishes to thank her friends and neighbors at Riverview Manor Apartments, those who took special care of her at Heritage Center and those at Cabell Huntington Hospital who cared for her during her last days. Special thanks to her close friend, Gene Waugh, the volunteer staff at the Red Cross, friends from the church, including Rev. Skip Seibel, who visited her and kept her in his prayers. The family would also like to thank their friends for their support and kindness. There will be a memorial service 6 p.m. Monday, August 14, 2017, at the First Presbyterian Church, 1015 5th Ave., Huntington, with Rev. Skip Seibel officiating. Those attending should use the entrance at the back of the church, and parking is available behind the church off 6th Avenue. Friends may visit with family after 5 p.m. until service time at the church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First Presbyterian Church, the American Red Cross, Cabell Wayne Animal Shelter or Little Victories Animal Shelter. A thank you to Chapman's Mortuary for their care and assistance with the arrangements,
