Born in Brooklyn in 1924, Art Weisberg (1924-2012) made his way to West Vitginia after serving in World War II and earning a degree in electrical engineering from the City University of New York. In 1962, with a bankeoll of $2,500, he starrted a one man elecctrical supply business, calling on small grocery and hardware stores and selling light bulbe, extension cords and fuses from the back of his truch. From that humble beginning, Huntington based State Electric has envoled into one of the nation's biggest and best known electrical distributors, with more than 50 locations in a half dozen states. Noted for their charitable giving, he and his wife Joan have donated millions of dollars to Marshall University and other recipients in the Huntington region.
