Michael Raymond Prestera was one of the victims onboard the chartered jetliner that crashed at Tri-State Airport on Nov. 14, 1870, killimg all 75 Marshall football players, coaches, fans and crew members. He left a wife, Nancy: a daughter, Mary Anne: and three sons. Gene, Michael and Robert. Born in 1909. Prestera was a successful businessman as the president of Whitten Transfer Company and the Prestera Trucking Company. He served as chairman of the KYOVA Interstate Planning Commission, president of the Big Green athletic booster and founding president of the Southwestern Mental Heath Center. In 1981, the center was renamed the Prestera Center for Mental Health Center Services to hono Prestera's dedication. At the time of his death, he was a delegate-elect to the West Birginia Legislature.
