The former home of the Thomas and Ann Buffington
Plantation is the oldest Occupied historical structure in Cabell
County. The home located at 101 Main Street in Huntington
was constructed in the late 1790s.

The home, a two-story painted red brick federal structure,
stands on a high foundation and basement of native stone.

By 1800 many of the church services were held at the
Buffington Plantation. In 1804, Thomas Buffington deeded
property on Guyan Street and Fifth Avenue for the first use of
the Methodist Episcopal Church a school house and graveyard
in Guyandotte, Virginia.
