Bell Telephone, 1882

----------

In 1882, George S. Page and H. C. Everett entered into a
contract with the Southern Bell Telephone and Telegraph
Company of Richmond, Virginia. Page and Everett were per-
mitted to build and operate a telephone line in Cabell County.

Under this contract, a telephone line was built from Page's
Store in Guyandotte to the new store of Herman Jenkinson on
Third Avenue between Ninth and Tenth Streets.

Page and Everett's first plan was to put the Huntington end of
the line at the Albert Mills, which was then being operated by
Everett, located on Fourth Avenue between Ninth and Tenth
Streets, on the site of the Keith Albee Theatre.
