Gillenwaters Wounded At Guilford

Private James Gillenwaters enlisted in the
service at
Amherst County and served in the southern campaigns.
He was wounded at Guilford Courthouse and rendered
a permanent cripple. He received Land Bounty Warrant
No. 6418 from the state of Virginia and was pensioned
under the Act of 1818.
He was born in 1756 and died in 1856 at age
100.
He lived near Inez, Kentucky, and died at the home
of Armstead B. Howell near Ousley's Gap.
Private Gillenwaters is buried in the
Historical
Guyandotte Cemetery.
