Joseph Plum Martin

-------------------------------------------------------------

Joseph Plum Martin wrote a detailed narrative about his time in
the war. His book is considered one of the best writings about
the common soldier.

Martin actually joined up to fight against the British when he
was 15. He took a short break and signed up again as a
veteran at the age of 16.

Times were tough and he almost starved-to-death. But,
Martin continued on. He fought mainly with the common
soldier but was present at many important happenings.

Martin encamped at Valley Forge, witnessed John Andre being
escorted to his execution, and was present at the climactic
Siege of Yorktown. He also rubbed shoulders with
General Washington.
