Obituary

Hubert L. “Dick” Hughes, 87, of Milton, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, Feb. 11, 2000 at his residence. Funeral services were conducted on Monday, Feb. 14 at 1:00 PM at Bias Chapel, Milton, with the Rev. Forrest Cummings officiating. Burial in the Bias Chapel Cemetery. He was born Nov. 4,1912 in Milton, a son of the late Charles Wesley and Edna Qualls Hughes. He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Glenda Gail Vallance and one grandson, Jamie R. Bryan. He was a member of Bias Chapel. He was a member of the Lebanon Lodge 68 AF & AM, Milton. He was also a member of Local 505, Huntington. Survivors include his wife, Louella Spurlock Hughes; one son, Kevin Scott Hughes of Ona; two daughters, Deloris “DJ” McDonie of Milton and Erma Rierson of Diggs, VA; one stepson, Danny R. Bryan of Huntington; one step-daughter, Susan Bryan Hensley of Newnan, GA; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Heck Funeral Home, Milton, was in charge of arrangements.
