Obituary

LUCILLE KATHERINE KING HICKS BOWEN, 89, of Barboursville, W.Va., went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, August 2, 2007, at her residence after a long illness. Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Monday, August 6, 2007, at the Wallace Funeral Home & Chapel by Pastor James Jobe. Burial will be in Hicks-Bowen Cemetery. She was born September 15, 1917, in Cabell County, a daughter of the late Jarvery Bernard King and Elizabeth Waugh King. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Dallas Hicks; her second husband, Clifford Bowen; a daughter-in-law, Sara Emma Hicks; a son-in-law, Lowell L. Clay; two sisters, Wilma Francis Graham and Bertha May Kendrick; and three brothers, Oliver Elwood King, Milburn Clayton King and Elmer Oits King. She was Baptist by faith. She is survived by three sons, Paul William Hicks, David Lee Hicks and his wife Karen, Michael LeRoy Hicks and his wife Shirley; seven daughters, Betty Lou Clay, Sharon Sue Edmunds and her husband David, Mary Dallastene Roach and her husband Millard, Ruth Ann Jefferson and her husband Charlie, Sandra Gail Dawson and her husband Cecil, Mildred Audrey Jenkins and her husband Roger, Melita Aundray Knight and her husband Wayne; thirty grandchildren, eighty-one great-grandchildren, and twenty-three great-great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held from 5-9 p.m. Sunday at the Wallace Funeral Home, Barboursville. Many thanks to Hospice of Huntington and her care givers, Lois, Sherry and Ginger. Lucille was a blessing to her family and neighbors. She was a wonderful loving mother and grandmother. We will greatly miss her.
