WILLIAM LEE CYRUS

WILLIAM LEE CYRUS, 73, of Milton, passed away Thursday, Nov. 3, 2005 in St. Mary's Medical Center, Huntington, surrounded with his loving family by his side. Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, Nov. 6, 2005 at 2 p.m. at Milton Baptist Church, by Pastor Brent Beckett and Bob Lambert. Burial will be in Milton Cemetery. He was born Aug. 12, 1932 in St. Albans, W.Va., the son of the late Walter S. and Lola Thomas Cyrus. William was preceded in death by his sister, Jean Duty of Columbus, Ohio, and two brothers, Phillip Cyrus of Milton and Thomas Cyrus of Hampton, Va.; two brothers-in-law, Roy and Kyle Lewis of Milton. William was a veteran of the US Marine Corp. having served during the Korean Conflict. He retired from Union Carbide after 35 years of service. He was a member of Milton Baptist Church where he served as usher, trustee, Sunday School teacher and deacon. He is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Shirley L. Cyrus; two daughters and sons-in-law, Cheryl and Walt Salamacha of Milton, and Dee and Chester Henderson of Kenova; one son and daughter-in-law, Lee and Melissa Cyrus of Milton. He was known as "Poppy" to his grandchildren, Jessalyn and Nolan Cyrus, who he called his "Precious Treasures". Also surviving are sisters, Mary Lou Sanders of Chesapeake, Va. and Juanita Ashworth of Milton; several nieces, nephews and friends. In lieu of flowers, friends may make memorial contributions to Hospice of Huntington or the Library of Milton Baptist Church. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the Wallace Funeral Home, Milton, and after 1 p.m. Sunday at the church
