JAMES EDWARD "EDDIE" MORRIS, 94, of Lavalette went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, November 15, 2008, at Cabell Huntington Hospital after a brief illness. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather to his family. He was born November 25, 1913, in Huntington, W.Va. He was the son of the late Charles and Anna Morris. During World War II, he was employed by the Naval Shipyard in Portsmouth, Virginia, keeping America's fleet safe and operable during the time of war. He was retired from the C&O Railroad at Barboursville, W.Va. Upon retirement, he spent the remainder of his life in Lavalette caring for his apple orchards, strawberry patch and family. He was the oldest member of Zoar Missionary Baptist Church. He was preceded by his first born son, James E. Morris Jr., "Jimmy Boy"; his loving wife of 50 years, Eloise Annajean Legg Morris; his brothers, Harry Morris, Alex Morris, Harold "Mooney" Morris; his sisters, Elizabeth Morris Woods, Marie Morris Ayler. He is survived by his twin sons, Garry Gideon Morris and his wife Verlie Nelson Morris of Chesapeake, Ohio, Larry Charles Morris and his wife Joyce Ann Tooley Morris of Huntington, W.Va.; his daughter, Jacqueline Carolyn "Jackie" Morris Bias and her husband Robert Kelly Bias of Milton; his twin grandsons, Garry Edward Morris and his wife Missy of Russell, Kentucky, Larry Karl "Bo" Morris and his wife Dreama of Huntington; his granddaughter, J. Kelly Bias Daniels and her husband James E. "Jed" Daniels of Boynton Beach, Fla., Samantha Ann Morris of Huntington, W.Va., Leslie Bias Riedel and her husband David P. Riedel of Culloden, W.Va., and Sheila Ann Morris; his four great-grandchildren, Ryan Karl Morris, Katherine Elizabeth "Katie" Riedel, Phillip Andrew Riedel and McKenah Eliot Morris; and a host of special nephews, nieces and friends. Visitation will occur at Heck Funeral Home on Monday, Nov. 17, 2008, from 6 to 9 p.m. Funeral service will be held Tuesday, Nov. 18, 2008, at 11 a.m. at Heck Funeral Home, Milton, with Rev. Harry Moore and Rev. Winiford Curry officiating. Burial will follow in Milton Cemetery. The family would like to extend special thanks to Cabell Huntington SICU nursing staff and transitional care.
