ELIZABETH "BETTY" BRINKER WILLIAMS

ELIZABETH "BETTY" BRINKER WILLIAMS, 84, of Milton, fought the very hard fight battling heart disease and cancer, but won by going to her heavenly home on August 26, 2006, at Hospice of Huntington. Betty and her family were cared for royally by the Hospice staff. Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday, August 27, 2006, at Heck Funeral Home, Milton. Burial will follow in Milton Cemetery. She was born July 5, 1922, in Kenova, W.Va. to George S. and Jennette Lake Brinker. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Howard; one son, David; one sister, Mary McKee; one brother, Richard Brinker. Betty graduated from Ceredo-Kenova High School and Marshall University. She retired from the Cabell County School System, where she worked as a home-school coordinator. She was a strong supporter of her son's football teams and sold tickets to the games in Milton. She felt voting in our government elections was so important that she worked at the voting polls for many years in Cabell County. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Veterans of Foreign Wars and had been active in the local AARP and the West Virginia Polio Survivors Chapter. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church of the Covenant in Hurricane. Betty spent years caring for her husband who succumbed to Alzheimer's disease last year. She is survived by one daughter, Mary K. Freytag of Milton; one son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Vicki (Parsons) Williams and their daughters, Ashlee and Emilee of Ona.
