REBEL BILL SMITH

Throughout 1863, Rebel Bill commanded guerillas throughout              
Wayne County and caused a significant amount of trouble for
surrounding Union forces.

In September of 1864, Smith once again became the primary
Rebel leader in Wayne County and led 60 men into Ceredo
and captured every remaining male in Ceredo except two
old men.

Rebel Bill's tombstone is located in the Confederate plot at 
Spring Hill Cemetery, Huntington.
