JOHN EVERETT

Private Everett was born in 1753 and died 1854.  He is buried
in the Everett Cemetery Overlooking U.S. Route 60 in Ona.
he enlisted for the war in Bedford County, Virginia.

PRIVATE JOHN EVERETT SERVED IN VIRGINIA

Private John Everett enlisted September 28, 1775 to September 28, 1776 as a private
under Captain William Campbell's Company and Colonel Patrick Henry's Regiment.
private Everett enlisted in Bedford County, Virginia.  He enlisted again on May 15,
1779 for two years services.

He guarded prisoners at Albemarle Barracks and was discharged at Winchester
under Captain John Allen and Colonel Francis Taylor.

Everett came from Albemarle County, Virginia in 1804 and settled on the Cabell
County farm for the aged and infirm at Ona.  He first married Sarah Tarlton.  His
second wife was also named Sarah with the last name of Deadman.  He was the
father of Colonel John Everett of Guyandotte, Nathan Everett of Ona, Mrs. John
Morris of Teays valley and Mrs. Abia Rece.
