Nancy Ann Cutright
Feb 3, 1952 - Wed 22, 2009

Nancy Ann Cutright, 57 of Huntington, WV, slipped quietly into heaven after a long and courageous battle with cancer on Wednesday April 22, 2009 at the home of her best friend, Terri Effingham.  She was born February 3, 1952 in Clarksburg, WV. She was preceded in death by her father James Philip Cutright, her paternal grandparents, J.M. and Blanche Ferguson Cutright, her maternal grandparents, French H. and Kate Keister Raines.  She is survived by her mother, Dorothy Raines Cutright, two sisters, Linda and her husband, Jody Eddins and Sue Howland, her nephews, Jacob Eddins, Joe Eddins and his fiancée Erin Yeager, all of Huntington, WV; and Tyler Eddins and his wife Jessie and baby Noah all of Cork, Ireland. She is also survived by two aunts, Virginia Raines of Red Creek, WV, who was like a mother to her, and Doris Cutright of Roanoke, VA, several cousins and her beloved golden retriever, Gabby.  Nancy graduated from Huntington East High School in 1970. She graduated from Marshall University with a BA in Health, Physical Education and English; she also earned a MA from Marshall University in Secondary Education. She spent her career at Beverly Hills Junior High/Middle School from 1975-2001.  As a coach of girls volleyball and tennis, Nancy was known as a great competitor and had numerous county championships. At Beverly Hills, Nancy appreciated and enjoyed her working relationship and friendship with Coach Don Lucas. Nancy was a faithful member of Community of Grace United Methodist Church, the former Highlawn United Methodist Church for 53 years. She enjoyed the fellowship as a member of the Elizabeth Circle and served on numerous committees of the church. Painting with the “Praise Painters” brought great joy to Nancy, not to mention the beautiful art work she created and gave away so others could enjoy. Nancy also found pleasure in giving back to her community by volunteering in the Hospice Gift Shop and the Hope Food Pantry.  The family would like to thank the many friends and neighbors for their love, prayers and expressions of concern during this difficult journey and a special thank you to her caregivers who were like angels to Nancy. In lieu of flowers those who wish may make memorial contributions to Hospice of Huntington or the charity of ones choice. The family will gather and greet friends on Saturday April 25, 2009 at 4:00 PM at the Community of Grace Church  (former Highlawn United Methodist Church) 28th Street and 3rd Avenue, a Celebration of Nancy’s Life will be held at 5:00 PM with a reception to follow.
