Obituary

Richard S. Moore, 75, of Huntington, passed away Sunday, June 7, 2009 in St. Mary’s Medical Center.  Funeral service will be conducted 1:00 PM, Wednesday, June 10, 2009 at Beard Mortuary with Rev. Bob Weaver officiating.  Burial will follow in Woodmere Memorial Park.  He was born January 21, 1934 in Manchester, OH a son of the late Phillip S. and Viola Kilbreath Moore.  He was also preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Cook Moore; son, Marc Moore; brother, Joseph Moore; sister, Betty Ann Short.  He was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean Conflict.  He was the former club manager of American Legion, Post 16.  He was a former employee of Kroger and the Herald Dispatch.  He is survived by two daughters, Terri Moore and her husband, Dr. Mohammad Imani of Charleston, WV and Sherri Spencer and her husband, Greg of Huntington; six grandchildren, Whitney and Ethan Spencer, Cameron, Nicholas, Vida, and Kevin Imani; sister, Colleen Hill of South Point, OH; brother and sister-in-law, Jack and Johnna Moore of Huntington;  special friend, Delores Thuma of Huntington; nieces, Carol Moore Wells, Cheryl Vance, Danette Walker, Ann Walker, Jackie Humphreys, and Mary Jo Moore; nephews, Mike Moore, Johnnie Hill, and John David Short.  Visitation will be from 6 to 8 PM, Tuesday, June 9, 2009 at Beard Mortuary.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Disabled American Veterans, 930 7^th Ave., Huntington, WV  25701.  Special thanks to staff of the VA Hospital for the care they have provided over the years.
