Carla Ann Johe

Carla Ann Johe, 76, died September 24, 2009 at Midland Meadows in Ona WV.  A celebration of her life will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday at the Beard Mortuary at 3001 Third Avenue Huntington, WV with Dr. Gregg Terry officiating.  Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until time of the service.

 

Carla was born September 13, 1933 in Cincinnati Ohio to Jess and Betty Colbert and moved to Huntington at an early age. She was preceded in death by Howard G. Johe. Carla is survived by her son Sterling of Jupiter, Florida and her daughter Christine and son-in-law Mike Emerson from Huntington, and 5 grandchildren: Robbie Hall, Daniel, Alex, Chessa and Brianna Emerson. 

 

She graduated from Stephens College and Marshall College.  While at Marshall she was a member of Sigma Sigma Sigma Sorority and was inducted into Fagus honorary society.  She was a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Charleston. Carla was an avid fan and supporter of Marshall University football and basketball as well as the Marshall Artist Series.

 

 Over the years Carla volunteered at the Ronald McDonald House, the Pediatric Clinic and served on the Tri Sigma Sorority Advisory Board. She was a member of the Marshall University Foundation and also loved and supported the Huntington Symphony, the West Virginia Symphony and the Montclaire String Quartet.

 

Special thanks to Jessica Paschall, Brittany Kinder, and Amanda Mayes who served as devoted caregivers and to the staff of Midland Meadows Assisted Living facility who cared for her with compassion and kindness. 

 

In lieu of flowers donations may be sent to Hospice of Huntington.
