Errol Dustin Smeltzer, 94, of Huntington, WV went to be with the Lord on March 28, 2011. Errol was born July 25, 1916 in South Point, OH, the oldest of 7 children, born to the late James W. & Ruby McClure Smeltzer. In addition to his parents and wife he was preceded in death by brother, Clifford and sisters, Kathryn Dickey and Marjory Watts. He was a 1935 graduate of Ceredo-Kenova H.S., also attended Duquesne and Indiana Universities. While attending the former W. V. Business College, he met and married the girl of his dreams and love of his life, Sadie Hamlin, who preceded him in death on Jan. 8, 2007. This union lasted 65 wonderful years and blessed him with 2 daughters, Janet (Donn) Lithgow of Ponte Vedra Beach, FL and Patricia (Doug) Policastro of Toms River, NJ and twin grandsons Christopher and Stephen Policastro. He is also survived by brother, Jack and sisters Gladys Childers of Ely, Nev. and Betty Qualls of Ashland, KY and 11 nephews and 6 nieces. Errol was a member of Central Christian Church since 1955, where he held the positions of Sunday School teacher, Deacon, Elder and Chairman of the Board. He was also a 32nd degree Mason, member of the Scottish Rite and Bahia Shrine of Orlando, FL. He worked as personal secretary for James F. Edwards, Pres. of National Mattress Co., and as Office Manager for their plants in Pittsburgh, Indianapolis and Orlando. He retired from the Internal Revenue Service in Orlando in 1987 and returned to Huntington. Funeral Services will be held Saturday April 2 at l:30 PM at Central Christian Church, 1202 5th Ave, Huntington 25701 with the Rev. Kevin Snow officiating. Visitation will be at the church from 12:30 to 1:30 PM Saturday. Burial will follow at Ridgelawn Memorial Park. Donations in his memory may be made to the Church.
