Beloved husband, father and brother, WILLIAM SUTTON EPPS JR., 85, of Huntington, W.Va., passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2013. Memorial services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 19, 2013, at the Beverly Hills Presbyterian Church, Huntington W.Va., by Rev Cinda Harkless. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Jan. 21, 2013, at Wolfe Funeral Home, Fort Mill, S.C. Funeral will be at Old Waxhaw Presbyterian Church, Lancaster, S.C., on Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2013, at 11 a.m. Sutton was born on May 24, 1927, in Fort Mill, S.C., a son of the late William Sutton and Janie Huey Epps of Fort Mill, S.C. He was married to the beloved late Jeanne Massey Potts of Rock Hill, S.C. He is survived by two sons and daughter in-in-law, Karl Epps of Huntington, and Allen and Mika Epps, of Drexel Hill, Pa.; two grandchildren, Joshua and Julia; one brother and sister-in-law, DuBreil and Peggy Epps of Fort Mill, S.C.; and two sisters, Doris Lee and Jane Watkins of Fort Mill, S.C. His many accomplishments included serving in the U.S. Navy in 1945; graduated from University of South Carolina, BS Civil Engineering; Registered Professional Engineer; and Worked for Bureau of Land Reclamation on large irrigation projects in the Rio Grande Valley region of Texas and the four corners area of New Mexico; worked for Huntington District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Plan Formulation Branch, Planning Division; Retired from Corps in 1998; Past President of the ASCE Huntington Branch; member of The Engineers Club of Huntington and was former Treasurer, Director, and Awards and Education Committee Chairman, and was the 1994 Engineer of the Year; Beverly Hills Presbyterian Church Treasurer, Elder, child care director, and property manager; Assistant Scout Master Boy Scout Troop 22, and went on many, many, camping and summer camp trips with his boys; Marshall Thundering Herd season ticketholder from late sixties Fairfield Stadium days to present; researched and wrote extensive genealogical study of Epps family history. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Beverly Hills Presbyterian Church and Hospice of Huntington. Beard Mortuary is assisting the family.
