Geneva H. Payne
(January 26, 1919 - May 8, 2010)



Geneva H. Payne fell asleep in the arms of the Lord on May 8, 2010, in St. Mary's Medical Center. She was born January 26, 1919 in Kiwanha, Kentucky (near Pikeville) the daughter of Robert Bruce Howell and Cora Tackett Howell. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of fifty-four years, Samuel Payne, retired master sergeant in the USAF, in addition to her parents, and four sisters. A brother, Robert Bruce Howell of California; two nieces in town, Nausha Campbell and Lexa Lewis, as well as other nieces, great nieces, and nephews survive her. A special friend and caregiver, Amy Walls, along with her other good neighbors helped to make her life more pleasant. In addition, Dr. Chadwick Smith and the nurses, Michael and Matthew, as well as everyone in the ER and intensive care unit at St. Mary's, made Geneva's time more comfortable. Viewing will be from 1:00 to 2:00 PM on Tuesday, May 11, 2010, at Chapman's Mortuary, Huntington, followed by the funeral service at 2:00 PM. Interment will be at White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Barboursville. Gary Clarke will officiate. Pallbearers will be Zachary Campbell, Mike Davis, and Tom Muncy. Donations may be made to Meals on Wheels (CCCSO), 724 10th. Avenue, Huntington, WV 25701.
