Oliver Vernon Duty


Oliver Vernon Duty, 89, of Chesapeake, OH, formerly of Ranger, WV, died Wednesday, August 19, 2020 at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House. He was born August 20, 1930 in Ranger, WV, a son of the late Levi Joel and Margaret Niece. His great grandchild, Emma June Bickett also preceded him in death. He was a retired Master Sergeant with the U.S. Air Force, having served during the Korean War and the Viet Nam War. Survivors include two daughters and a son-in-law, Karen and Tim Gleason of Chesapeake, and Linda Valenzuela of Avondale, AZ; six grandchildren, Paul Armstrong and his wife, Angelica Armstrong of Chesapeake, David Bickett and his wife, Katie Bickett of Ashland, KY, Brittany Dillender and her husband, Brian Dillender, Vernon Valenzuela, Sharon Moreno and her husband, Israel Moreno, and Edward Valenzuela and his wife, Melinda Valenzuela; a sister, Imogene Baker of Ranger, WV; brother, Cecil Coalgrove of Ranger, WV; and six great grandchildren, Jaxon Dillender, Annessa Moreno, Ezra Moreno, Alyssa Valenzuela, Sarena Valenzuela, and Michael Valenzuela. Donations may be sent to the Huntington Hospice House in his name. Military graveside services will be conducted 11:00 AM Tuesday, August 25, 2020 at the Donel C Kinnard Memorial State Veterans Cemetery, Dunbar, WV.
