Elmer J. Arwine
(January 1, 1932 - February 21, 2009)



A Beautiful life was ended February 21, 2009. Elmer J. Arwine was born on January 1, 1932 in Logan, West Virginia. Born to the late Elmer Arwine Sr. and Etta Lee Crawford.

At an early age Elmer was baptized at the Calvary Missionary Baptist Church.

Elmer later moved to Alliance, Ohio where he attended school. He then joined the U.S. Air Force where he came out with an honorable discharge, as Staff Sergeant Elmer J. Arwine. He moved back to Huntington and started working for the City of Huntington. He was a Cub Scout Troop Leader. He retired from the City of Huntington after 30 years. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion. He was preceded in death by his wife, Eliza Arwine, his mother, Etta Lee Crawford and step-father, James R. Crawford, his brother, aunts, uncles and cousins.

He leaves to cherish his sister, Brenda L. Crawford, his cousins, Josh Pankey and Willie Pankey; his nieces, Angela & Kip Shaw II, Aleesha & Randall Carter, Meshelle & John Johnson; two foster brothers, Jerry Tubbs and James Tubbs; a foster sister, Cindy Tubbs Elmore and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Special Friends, Patricia Cox, Timmy Collins, Kermit Hill, Alberta Lewis, Detroit Lewis, Rose Lewis and Kenneth Collins.

Funeral service will be held 1 pm Thursday at Ferrell-Chambers Funeral Home, Huntington, with Dr. Franklin Murphy officiating. Interment will follow in Spring Hill Cemetery, Huntington. Visitation is 11 am to 1 pm Thursday at the funeral home.
