Patricia Ann Collins Cox
(June 13, 1939 - March 27, 2009)



Patricia Ann Collins Cox, 69, of Huntington, widow of Embrue Cox, passed away Friday, March 27, 2009 at Cabell-Huntington Hospital. Funeral service will be 1 pm Wednesday, April 1, 2009 at Young Chapel AME Church, Huntington with Rev. Angela Walker officiating. Interment will follow in Spring Hill Cemetery, Huntington. Patricia was born June 13, 1939 in Ashland, KY, a daughter of the late Edward and Faith Marie Nelson Collins. Of a family of eight children, she was one of the last two remaining. At a very young age, she was baptized at Saint James A.M.E. Church in Ashland, KY. She was a member of the Young Chapel AME Church, Huntington, WV. She was a 1958 graduate from Douglas High School. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters; Emily Brown and Mary Francis Collins; and four brothers an infant “Baby Collins”, Louis Collins, Edward Collins, Jr. and Willis Frederick Collins. She is survived by three sons, Kenneth Collins of Huntington, Timothy Collins of Huntington and Jeffrey Collins of Raleigh, NC; two daughters, Tina (Timothy) Johnson of Oak Grove, KY and Alicia (William “Pete”) Jackson of Tampa, FL; one step-son, Wendell Singleton; and one sister, Alberta (Detroit) Lewis of Huntington; sixteen grandchildren, Timothy Johnson II, TiKayla Johnson, Rose Collins, Timika Collins, Javon Jackson, Jataya Jackson, Tiffany M. Collins, Damein Fenney, Shika Collins, Delmeshia Collins, Markell Collins, Kenny Collins, Jr., Kristan Burnside, Justin White and Lavinia Hoeing; eight great-grandchildren; two special friends, Betty Thornhill and Nettie Jackson; two special nieces, Rose Marie Lewis and Tereasa Kuykendall and one great niece, Kendra Kuydendall. Visitation will be from 12 to service time at the church. The care and service of Mrs. Cox is under the direction of Ferrell-Chambers Funeral Home, Huntington.
