Walter L. Barnes
(April 12, 1929 - August 8, 2014)

Walter Leland Barnes, 85 passed away Friday, August 8, 2014 at Summer Field Nursing Home, Louisville, KY. He was a native of Huntington, West Virginia, the former Executive Director of the Chestnut Street, YMCA for over 42 years. A 1948 graduate of Douglass High School and a 1953 graduate of Kentucky State University and a member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Martha Barnes and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. Visitation will be 10:00 am till noon Thursday at Calvary Baptist Church, 1368 So. 28th Street, Louisville, Ky. The service will began at Noon. Additional services will be Noon Saturday, August 16, 2014 in the Chapel Ferrell-Chambers Funeral Home, with the Reverend Roy E. Terry, officiating. Friends may Call from 11:00 am until the time of the service. Burial will follow in Woodmere Memorial Park, Huntington, WV.
