James Michael Johnson
(February 3, 1951 - July 20, 2014)


JAMES MICHAEL "BLUE" JOHNSON, 63, Huntington, W.Va., formerly of Ashland, Ky., beloved father, son and brother, went to be with the Lord July 20, 2014. The son of Lee and Willene Franklin Johnson. James was preceded in death by one brother, Donald (June) Lee Johnson; his stepmother Katherine Johnson; and his soul mate Alberta Carter. A graduate of Paul G. Blazer High School, he served in the active armed forces for six years; followed by ten years in the Kentucky National Guard. James was dedicated to this father and stepmother and helped care for them in their later years. He leaves to mourn two children, Sarah (Anthony) Johnson, Jacksonville Beach, Fla.; Jamevher Johnson, Melbourne, Fla.; six grandchildren, Ciara, Demetrius, Aniyah, Alijah, Anthony and Ede'oshanaj; four sisters, Shirley Williams (Joseph), Huntington, W.Va.; Barbara Harris (Anthony), Columbus, Ohio; Carolyn Martin, Stockbridge, Ga.; and Susan Kirkman (Elzie) Columbus, Ohio; two brothers, Charles Johnson of Jacksonville, Fla., and Paul Johnson (Christal) Valencia, Calif.; and a host of dear nieces, nephews and friends. A special "thank you" to the staff of Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House. Visitation Thursday, July 31, 2014, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Ferrell-Chambers Funeral Home, Huntington. Graveside services 2 p.m. at the Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Greenup, Ky. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to Hospice of Huntington, Inc. The care and services for Mr. Johnson have been entrusted to Ferrell-Chambers Funeral Home.
