Robert E. Phillips
(June 11, 1939 - November 2, 2014)



Robert E. Phillips, age 75, of Huntington, passed away on Sunday, November 2, 2014. Born June 11, 1939 in Huntington, he was the son of the late Frank B. and Mary O. (Siebert) Phillips. Bob was a U.S. Air Force Airman First Class Medic. A 1957 graduate of Huntington East High School, he went on to attend the Century College of Commerce and graduated from the International Correspondence School. He retired in 1997 as a driver for the United Parcel Service and was proud of his membership in the UPS Circle of Honor for 27 years of safe driving. Bob was a Kentucky Colonel, a member of the American Legion Post 177 in Barboursville, and the Local 505 Teamsters Union. He loved and cherished his children, grandchildren and his beloved late wife, Sandy, whom he was unconditionally devoted to and cared for until her passing. Bob will be remembered for his great sense of humor and zest for life. He will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his three children, Darrell E. (Mary Ann) Phillips of Moultrie, GA, Melanie (James R.) Phillips Ward of Barboursville and Jeanette (Paul) Phillips Scott of Hendersonville, TN, and his eight grandchildren, Justin Phillips, KayDee Phillips, Samantha Phillips, Randy Ward, Robert James Ward, Cassandra Ward, Paul Robert Scott and Jennifer Scott. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Sandy Phillips, who passed away on August 6, 2008. A Graveside Ceremony was held privately by his family at the Spring Hill Cemetery in Huntington, with Minister Charles A. Null, officiating.
