Obituary

Rosetta Callens
(September 2, 1931 - May 28, 2018)



Rosetta Garrett Callens, 86, entered this life on September 2, 1931 to Henrietta and Roosevelt Garrett in Uniontown, AL.  Rosetta worked in downtown Huntington as a sales clerk in the upscale stores of Huntington for 30 plus years.  She retired to take care of her husband in his illness.  Rosetta was a very caring and compassionate person and mother-in-law.  She cared for her neighbors and relatives in their hours of need.  She had many children but only one natural.  Everyone she met enjoyed being in her company.  Rosetta departed this life on May 28, 2018.  She married James Alva Callens to them was on son, Gates Ellery Callens (Ida).  She is preceded in death by her husband, James of 50 years; her son, Gates Ellery Callens; parnents, Roosevelt and Henriettta Callens; granddaughter, Stephanie Arnetia Callens; and sisters, Mary Frances Brown.  She leaves behind to cherish her memory; daughter-in-law, Ida Callens; three great-grandsons, JaSean Marquis Clayborn, Dimitri Capri Gates Callens and Jmeil Tramaine Cochran.  Also, surviving are her nieces and nephews: Daniel L. Brown, Jr., Henrietta Brown, Ella Brown, Mae Frances and Sherman Jackson; a dear and kind friend who was her running buddy, “Big Aud” Audley Kilburn – Thank you for all you have done and her neighbors, Ron and Just Dallis and Sherrone Hornbuckle.  Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 P.M., June 7, 2018 at Ferrell-Chambers Funeral Home with Minister Mike Greider, officiating.  Family will welcome friends one-hour prior to services.  Burial will follow at Spring Hill Cemetery.
