Obituary

Mary Zoe Mullens Cooper, 80, of Ray City, GA, formerly of Milton and Palm City, FL went home to be with the Lord after a brief illness on Thursday, July 12, 2007 in South Georgia Medical Center, Valdosta, Georgia.  She was born May 5, 1927 a daughter of the late Paul and Eva Mullens.  She was also preceded in death by her husband, Edwin Carroll Cooper; sister, Ruby Mullens Robinson.  She is survived by her son, Michael E. Cooper of Milton; daughter, Patricia G. Casto of Ray City, GA; daughter-in-law, Brenda Courts Cooper; son-in-law, Mark E. Casto; two granddaughters, Michelle Cooper Webb and Jennifer Casto Martinez; two grandsons, Nathanael E. Casto and Nikolaus E. Casto; two grandsons-in-law, Fred R. Webb and Angelo A. Martinez; two great grandsons, Curtis Cooper Webb and Matthew Gabriel Martinez.  She was the oldest of eight children, surviving brothers and sisters are Hope Day, Paul Q. Mullens II, Wanda Midkiff, Helen Hayes, Richard Mullens and John Mullens.  She was a loving and devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend.  She was retired from the Cabell County Board of Education with 32 years of service as secretary of Milton Elementary.  Prior to that she trained as a nurse at St. Mary’s Hospital.  She worked as a nurse at St. Mary’s Hospital and then worked for Dr. Victor Palitano and Dr. William Burt both in Milton.  She was a member of Bethesda United Methodist Church, Ona.  Funeral service will be conducted 2:00 PM Tuesday, July 17, 2007 at Heck Funeral Home, Milton.  Burial will follow in White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Barboursville.  Visitation will be from 6 to 8 PM, Monday July 16, 2007 at Heck Funeral Home.
