Roy D. Payton, 79, of Milton passed away Wednesday, February 1, 2012. Funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, February 4, 2012 at Heck Funeral Home, Milton with the Rev. Roman Brown officiating. Entombment will follow at Forest Memorial Park, Milton. He was born July 14, 1932 in Cabell County, WV, a son of the late Albert and Gwendolyn Bledsoe Payton. He was also preceded in death by three brothers. Roy was a veteran of the United States Air Force, having served during the Korean War and he was retired from Union Carbide, Institute Plant after 40 plus years of service. He is survived by his wife, Elsie Payton; one aunt, Louise Bledsoe of Milton; four sons, Sam Payton and his wife, Marsha of Cross Lanes, WV, Todd Payton and his wife, Cathy of Kansas City, MO, Gary Payton and his wife, Crystal of Stevensville, MI and Terrance Payton of Milton; 12 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
