Donald Gene Sowards, 59, of Milton passed away Saturday, January 18, 2014 at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House in Huntington. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 25 2014 at Union Baptist Church, James River Turnpike at 3 p.m. with Pastor Rick Watson officiating. He was born April 5, 1954 in Cabell County, a son of the late Charles Frederick Sowards and Reva Couch. He was also preceded in death by three brothers, Eugene, Delbert and twin brother, Ronald Sowards. Donald is survived by his wife, Ruby Sowards; one son Troy (Christina) Sowards of Milton; one daughter, Crystal (Ted) Taylor of Milton; eight grandchildren, Dakota, Chelsea and Jayla Sowards, Ashley McComas, Elizabeth Hightower, Leandra and Raven Barker and Emma Blevins; two brothers, William “Bill” Sowards and Clifford Sowards; five great grandchildren; his grand dog, “Chico” and extended family and friends. Heck Funeral Home, Milton is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, the family will be accepting monetary donations.
