Lewis Mitchell Crook
1920 - 2008



LEWIS MITCHELL CROOK, 87, of Chapin, South Carolina, formerly of Huntington, WV, passed away Saturday, July 19, 2008 in the Lexington Memorial Medical Center, Lexington, South Carolina. He was born December 21, 1921, the son of the late Carl and Vesta Crook. He was the husband of Thelma Crook. He is survived by one son, Wilbur Matthews and his wife Lee of Columbia, South Caroline and one daughter, Patty Woodard and her husband, Lowell, of Hilton Head, South Carolina. He was also survived by his grandchildren, Patrick Matthews of Charleston, South Carolina and Drku Schuetterle and her husband Guenther of Chapin, South Carolina and Great Grandsons Aiden, Kieran and Gaven Schuetterle. Mitch was the brother of deceased Carl Crook, Delsy Hensley and Cynthia Moore. in death by a brother Carl Crook. He is survived by his new pew Bill Moore, niece's Brenda Price, Angie Adams, Linda Hensley and adopted niece Mary Ann Coalson. Mitch was a member of Crook Chapel Church. He was a member of the Elks Lodge 313 since 1949. He was one of the founding fathers of the Hilltop Sportsman Club of Davis Creek Road. Mitch retired from the International Nickel Company where he worked for 34 years as a skilled tradesman and after retirement worked as a consultant in Sudbury Canada for two additional years. He has been living in Chapin South Carolina at Generations Independent Living Facility. He will be missed by his family, which he loved. Dru and Patrick his grandchildren say; "he was the best paw-paw anyone could have". Funeral service will be held, Thursday, July 24, 2008 at HENSON MORTUARY BARABOURSVILLE. Visitation will be Wednesday, July 23, 2008, from 6 - 8 PM at the mortuary. Rev. Eugene Houck will be officiating. HENSON MORTUARY, is in charge of arrangements.
