SOPHIA LEE ADKINS HESSON
(July 8, 1917 - February 16, 2012)



When we blinked, Heaven gained an angel, and we miss our caring Mother, loving Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Great- Great Grandmother and Friend, Mrs. Sophia Lee Adkins Hesson, of Huntington WV., widow of Roscoe Hesson, made her final journey to live with her loved ones waiting for her inside Heaven’s gates on Thursday, February 16, 2012 at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House, Huntington, WV. Sophia Lee was born July 8, 1917, in Wayne County, West Virginia, a daughter of the late Dyke Adkins and Sarah Ann Vance Adkins.  Sophia Lee retired from the Huntington Manufacturing Company, where she was employed for 38 years.  She was a member of First Altizer Baptist Church. In addition to her parents and husband she was proceeded in death by two sisters, Idella Gavin and Alice Jean Johnson, three brothers, Ottie and Cecil Adkins and David Elmer Johnson,  her granddaughter, Juanita Marie Dennison and son-in-law E. Earl (Brub) Dennison. Sophia Lee is survived by her loving daughter, Teaven Lee Dennison, of Chesapeake, OH., five grandchildren and their spouses, Paula Sue Dennison Sawyers, of Chesapeake, OH., Eddie Lynn Dennison of Huntington WV., Roberta Ruth Dennison Dyer, of Huntington, WV., Matthew Earl Dennison of Chesapeake, OH. and Juanita Marie Blackwell, of Chesapeake, OH. She is also survived by her eight great- grandchildren, Eddie Lynn Dennison, Jr., Huntington, WV., William (Bill) Roy Sawyers of Chesapeake, OH., Jennifer Dawn Dennison Cox, of Beckley, WV., Ryann Nicole Dyer Marume, Rhiana Danielle Dyer of Huntington, WV., Jimmy Hay, Teaven Marie Hay and Joshua Matthew Hay of Chesapeake, OH.. She is also survived by three great-great grandchildren, Addison and Ahmond Cox, Bentley Robert Johnston, and another great- great granddaughter, Katelyn Marie Sawyers, due in May.  She also survived by a special step-son, Russell Hesson of Lesage, WV., numerous nieces, nephews and her loving church family. Funeral Services will be conducted at 1:00 PM Monday, February 20, 2012 at Henson Mortuary, Barboursville, WV with her caring Pastors, Fred Ramey and Caudill Adkins officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Huntington, WV.  Grandsons, and great grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Visitation will be held from 6-9 PM Sunday, February 19, 2012 at Henson Mortuary, Barboursville, WV.
