Margie Lou Stallard Sowards, 82 of Huntington, WV, went to be with the Lord, Friday, July 27, 2018. She was born August 28, 1935 in Dickinson County, VA. the daughter of the late, Rev. Ernest O. and Fannie Yates Stallard. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Ernest Claude Sowards, Jr. brothers, Rev. Curtis D. Stallard and Rev. J.D. Stallard. Although she was born in Virginia, she grew up in the mountains of Mingo County, West Virginia. She worked for Island Creek Coal Company, was a clerk with GMAC and the American Cencver Society. She was a member of Apostolic Life Cathedral where she also taught a bible program called Purpose Institute. She and her late husband Rev. E.C. Sowards served as assistant pastor at Calvary Apostolic Church in Hurricane, WV, assistant pastor and later became the pastor of the 25th Street Pentecostal Church in Huntington for well over twenty years. While laboring along side of her husband, she played many roles, first as Pastors wife, church organist and singer, church treasurer and numerous other vital roles in making the church successful. She also taught at church camps in Ohio and West Virginia and exemplified and led by example of how to be a true Lady. She. She is survived by her daughter, Carolyn Sowards Brown of Huntington, WV and her grandson, Jonathan Lee Brown of Huntington, WV; one sister, Nellarhea Stallard Frampton of Hernshaw, WV; two brothers, Carl (Joan) Stallard of Zanesville, OH. and Jerrell Stallard of Albuquerque, NM. and a host of family and friends. A Homegoing Celebration will be conducted on Tuesday, July 31, 2018 at 7:00 PM at Apostolic Life Cathedral, 350 Staunton Street, Huntington, WV with Bishop E.S. Harper officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Tuesday at the church. A family burial will follow on Wednesday morning at White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Barboursville, WV. Henson and Kitchen Mortuary, 6357 East Pea Ridge Road, Huntington, WV is caring for the family.
