Isaiah G. Bird, 90 of Huntington, WV was born June 4, 1928 in Hurricane, WV the son of the late, Benjamin and Georgia Slone Bird. He was retired from Special Metals, an upholsterer by trade, a volunteer for St. Mary’s Hospital and was a U.S. Navy Veteran. He had a passion for Bluegrass music where he was a member of the Pleasant Valley Boys Bluegrass Band. He enjoyed gardening, camping, and senior citizen activities and attended Apostolic Life Cathedral. During his lifetime in addition to his parents, he suffered the loss of his step-mother, Winnie Runyon Bird; wife, Beulah Mae Poteet Bird; sisters, Mary Johnson, Etta Oxley, Clarice Johnson and Neppie Moore Vernatt; brothers, Jessie, Ephraim and Fred Bird; son-in-law, David L. Kitchen and grandson, Marc S. Kitchen. He rested this Life October 5, 2018 at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House in Huntington, WV. He is held in loving memory by his children, Mary Ann (Jack) Howard of Chesapeake, OH, Sharon Bird Kitchen, Richard (Debbie) Bird, Tammy Bird and adopted daughter, Kerry Tanner all of Huntington; special friend, Ramolee Knight of Huntington; six grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren and a host of friends. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, October 9, 2018 at Henson and Kitchen Mortuary, East Pea Ridge Road, Huntington with Bishop E.S. Harper officiating. Burial will follow in Oaklawn Memorial Park, Huntington with Military Honors provided by American Legion Post #139 Milton. The family will receive friends from noon until service time on Tuesday at the mortuary.
