Obituary



William Franklin Sloan, 59 of Huntington, WV went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, April 2, 2019 at St. Mary's Medical Center. He was born on August 8, 1959 ; the son of the late William F. Johnson and Dorothy Sloan-Reinhardt. William served in the United States Marine Corps, was a member of the D1 Greyhounds W.T.T.N.L, A.D. Lewis Boys and Girls Club, the Owls and Revelers, and the Marcum Terrace Outreach Program in Huntington, WV. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Carletta Sloan. He is survived by his loving wife, Erica Chukwuemeka; four children, LaShawn E. Noble (Crispin), DeShawn D. Sloan, Demetrise E. Sloan, William F. Sloan Jr., two step children, D'Avion Griffin and Daechele Kurtz, thirteen grandchildren, Dashauna, LaShawn, Charlie, Malayah, Joniyiah, DeShawn Jr., Aariyah, Messiah, Addisyn, Ni'Shawna, Carter, Ryleigh, Patrick Jr; three brothers, Eric Johnson (Angie), William Johnson Jr., Marlon Johnson; two sisters, Valeria Lewis and Nancy Sloan; one mother-in-law, Jo Ann Chukwuemeka; one father-in-law, Dennis Chukwuemeka; and a host of family and friends. Homegoing services will be conducted at Lewis Memorial Baptist Church at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, April 9, 2019 with Dr. Tim Yates and Rev. Reginald Hill officiating. Burial will follow at the Donel C. Kinnard Memorial State Veterans Cemetery in Dunbar. The family will receive friends two hours prior to services at the church.
