Louis Mike Thabit

Louis Mike Thabit, 80, of Huntington passed away Friday Evening July 27, 2012 at St. Mary's Hospital. He was born April 18, 1932, son of Mike and Lamesa Thabit of Huntington. He is survived by his wife Patricia Thabit, daughters Stephanie E. Clausen (Eric) of Knoxville, Tennessee and Anne M. Meeks of Lexington Kentucky; he is also survived by six grandchildren - Emily Wickline, Shelby Wells, Andrew and Ethan Clausen and Christina and Jonathan Meeks, and his siblings, Norman Thabit (Judy), Andrea Thabit, and Elizabeth Hoback (Mike). Louis graduated from Huntington High School and attended Marshall University. He served in the 2nd Infantry Division during the Korean War. He retired from the West Virginia Veterans Home. After retirement he assisted at Thabit's restaurant, the family business. He was a member of the Blue Lodge #53 Royal Arch 6 of Huntington, where he served as Chaplin and Excellent King. He retired from the U.S. Army Reserves after 25 years of service. He was an active member of the YMCA, including the "Bench Boys" that was formed by friends of the senior YMCA. We will celebrate his precious life during visitation on Tuesday, July 31st, 2012, 6 PM to 8 PM, at the Klingel Carpenter Mortuary. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 1st, 2012 at 11 AM by Pastor Mark Conner of First United Methodist Church, followed by burial at Woodmere Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, it is suggested memorial contributions be made to the First United Methodist Church of Huntington.
