Obituary

Lawrence X. Moore
(December 27, 1916 - March 20, 2012)

Lawrence X. Moore died Tuesday, March 20th at Hospice House of Huntington. Larry was born in Bayonne, New Jersey in 1916. He graduated from Erasmus Hall High School, Brooklyn, NY and attended Marshall University. Employed by Huntington Alloy Products, he retired after 42 years of service as a foreman in the refinery. Larry was an avid fisherman, golfer, reader and Scrabble enthusiast. As a member of the Our Lady of Fatima Church, he served as a Eucharistic minister. Larry was a wonderful father and grandfather and he instilled in us a drive to excel, giving us confidence that we could accomplish anything. He was a caring friend to many with an Irish sense of humor that most enjoyed. He will be greatly missed by us all. Larry was predeceased by his wife, Ellouise, his daughter Helen Darby, and his brothers William, Jack, Terence, James, Victor and Thomas, and best Cavalier friends Lar and Quinn Moore. He is survived by his son Lex Moore and his wife Sally of Huntersville, N.C. and his daughter Chris of Chicago, Il, as well as his beloved grandchildren Natalie and Joshua Moore, and great-grandsons Jacob and Kyle. The family expresses appreciation for his loving caregiver Debbie Aguilar as well as his dear friend Clyde Beal. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1 pm, Saturday, March 24th at Our Lady of Fatima Church, Huntington, West Virginia, with interment at Ridgelawn Memorial Park. Visitation with the family precedes the service at the church at noon. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Huntington, Inc. or our Lady of Fatima Church. Klingel-Carpenter Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
