Obituary

T. Michael Cobb
(April 6, 1944 - January 7, 2019)

T. Michael Cobb, a true southern gentleman celebrated his Homegoing in the early morning hours of January 7, 2019. T. Michael Cobb, 74 of Huntington began his eternal rest in the presence of his gracious Lord, his parents A. Boyd "Mug" and Lorena H. Cobb of Clendenin, WV and his loving in-laws Joe and Ray Leslie of Ceredo, WV. Also there to greet him were his two best friends and fraternity brothers Carroll Hoffman and Larry Ledsome.  Left to treasure his memory are his brother, William A. Cobb, his beloved wife of 53 years, Nancy L. Cobb and his rescued feline friend Dixie as well as several cousins and cherished friends.  Mike was a graduate of Clendenin High School and Marshall University. While at Marshall he met and married the love of his life, Nancy. The beliefs by which Mike lived his life were embodied in his college fraternity Kappa Alpha Order.  Later in life he was proudly inducted into the alumni William Spriggs Hamilton Court of Honor of Kappa Alpha where he served as Registrar for ten years and Preceptor for three years.  After retiring from the State of West Virginia, Mike and Nancy enjoyed several years of watching Marshall University sports as well as the beauty of southern WV. In 2012 they built their beloved getaway, a log home on the Greenbrier River where they spent many hours fishing, enjoying the bounty of God's scenery and the food and fellowship of newly found friends near their home.  Throughout his journey with the insidious disease of cancer, Mike and Nancy were blessed with the outreach of love from family or friends in the form of phone calls, emails, flowers and food. Of special note were the attentions of sisterly friends Mimi Morrill and Barbara Hoffman as well as his caregivers Dutchess and Tangela.
Per Mike's wishes his earthly remains were cremated. Also, his wish was instead of sending flowers please make a memorial donation to Summers County Humane Society/ACWP, P. O. Box 236, Hinton, West Virginia 25951, or Cabell Wayne Animal Shelter, 1901 James River Rd., Huntington, WV 25701.  Mike’s life will be celebrated with a memorial service 1:00 p.m., Friday, January 11, 2019 at Klingel-Carpenter Mortuary by the Rev. Larry Mullens.  Visitation will be one hour before the service at the funeral home.
