Ella Marie Artrip-Shafer
(April 12, 1932 - March 11, 2012)



Ella Marie Artrip Shafer, 79, of Huntington, passed away Sunday March 11, 2012, at St. Mary’s Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 am Thursday at the Prince of Peace Freewill Baptist Church by Rev. Phillip Warren. Burial will follow in Oaklawn Cemetery, Huntington, WV. She was born April 12, 1932 a daughter of the late William Grady and Zula Thompson Artrip. Ella was a Quality Inspector for 38 years with Owens-Illinois. She was also a member of the Prince of Peace Freewill Baptist Church. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Lawrence M. Shafer and two sisters Mary Frances Artrip and Imogene Ray. Survivors include two daughters Catherine Shafer Roberts and her husband David Roberts of Cincinnati, Ohio and Rebecca Shafer Wheeler and her husband Dr. William Wheeler of Gaffney, SC; seven grandchildren Patrick Gainer (Jennifer), Eliazabeth Savu (Lisa Savu), Emilie Bok and Michael Bok all of Cincinnati, Ohio, Andrew Wheeler and Matthew Wheeler both of Gaffney, SC and Carly Ray of Athens, Alabama; two great grandchildren Piper Savu and Ella Gainer; a brother and sister in law William and Millie Artrip; sister Edna Simpson of Huntington; nephew Carl Ray and his wife Cheryl Ray of Athens, Ala. Friends may call from 6 to 8 pm Wednesday at the Reger Funeral Home.
