      ObituaryEva Va Bias, 81, of
    
    Huntington passed away Friday, 
    March 28, 2008 at her residence.  Funeral service will be 
    conducted Monday, March 31, 2008 at 2:30 p.m. at Beard Mortuary, Huntington 
    with Pastor Ray Vance officiating.  Burial will follow in

    Chapel
    Memorial
    Gardens, Barboursville. 
    C.A. Adams, Bob Bailey, John Chapman, Johnny McCallister, Bobby 
    Nelson, Doug Reynolds and David Tyson will be serving as pallbearers. 
    She was born July 24, 1926 in
    
    Milton,
    WV, a daughter of the late 
    Elisha and May Harshbarger Morrison.  She was also 
    preceded in death by her husband, Switzer Bias; five brothers, Harold, Carl, 
    Jackie, Dallas and Marvin Morrison and three sisters, Emogene Miller, Bertha 
    Hogan and Dalia Faye Morrison.  She was a member of the
    
    Fifth
    Ave.
    Freewill
    Baptist
    Church. 
    Eva was very active in the Democratic Party in
    
    Cabell
    County. 
    She was a member of the Cabell County Democratic Executive Committee 
    for nearly 20 years, representing the 4th Executive Committee 
    District in the city of
    
    Huntington.  
    She was named
    
    Cabell
    County’s Democrat of 
    the Year in 1998.  She was influential in the successful 
    election campaigns of Representative Nick Joe Rahall, former Supreme Court 
    Justice, Margaret Workman and a large number of locally elected and 
    appointed officials.  Eva and her late husband Switzer 
    were honorary advisory committee members of 2000 Democratic presidential 
    nominee Al Gore.  Eva volunteered many hours working for 
    her political party and recommended hundreds of local citizens to work as 
    poll officials in election years.  She was often sought 
    out by politicians for her counsel and support.  She was 
    happiest when she was busy working in political campaigns to help elect her 
    favorite candidates.  She is survived by one brother, 
    Rev. Millard Morrison, one sister, Louise Morrison, several nieces and 
    nephews and a host of wonderful fiends.  Friends may call 
    from 12:30 to 2:30 pm Monday at the mortuary.
