Anna Lyle Scurry Sammons, 94, of
Huntington, passed away Monday,
June 29, 2009 at the Woodlands Retirement Community.
Funeral service will be conducted Thursday, July 2, 2009 at Enslow Park
Presbyterian Church with Rev. Chris Perkins officiating.
Burial will follow in
Woodmere
Memorial Park,
Huntington.
She was born January 25, 1915 in Laurens Co.,
South Carolina a daughter of the late Drury
R. and
Nancy (Bullock) Scurry.
She was also preceded in death by seven brothers and two sisters.
She was a registered nurse, a member of Enslow Park Presbyterian
Church and the Huntington Woman’s Club. She loved to
spend her time golfing and playing bridge. She is
survived by her husband, Lucien Sammons; one son and daughter-in-law, Lucien
“Lu” and Lana Sammons of Huntington; one daughter and son-in-law, Margaret
A. “Peggy” and Dr. J. David Daniels of Huntington; sister and
brother-in-law, Sarah Ann and Marshall Hawkins; brother-in-law, Frederick
Sammons; six grandchildren, L. R. Sammons III and his wife Maggie, Kellie
Ann Oxley and her husband Perry, Suzanne Tucker and her husband Odell, Susan
Collett and her husband David, Sara Bowersox and her husband David, and
James David “Jim” Daniels, Jr.; and fourteen great grandchildren.
She will be sadly missed by her family and friends.
Visitation will be Thursday, July 2, 2009 from 1 to 2 PM, prior to
the service at Enslow Park Presbyterian Church.
Beard Mortuary is assisting the family.
