Verna Jo (Hanshaw) Johnson

Verna Jo Johnson, 73 of
Crown City,
OH passed away on Monday October 19, 2009
at St. Mary’s
Medical
Center.
Services will be held on Thursday at 1:30 PM at
Miller
Cemetery, Miller, OH
with Pastor Charles Turley officiating. She was born November 11, 1935 in
Lawrence County,
OH a daughter of the late
Lawrence and Thelma Burrough Hanshaw. In addition to her parents she was
preceded in death by her brother, Larry Hanshaw. She retired with over 30
years of service as an Optometrist Assistant for Dr. John Lupton. She was
past President of the Quota Club of Huntington, past Lieutenant Governor of
Quota and past Governor 1st District International of Quota.
She was an avid gardener all who knew her enjoyed her
beautiful flowers. Verna Jo is survived by her loving family, her husband,
Harold E. Johnson; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Gregory L. and Teresa
Johnson of Proctorville, OH and Chris E. Johnson of Proctorville; a
grandson, Andrew Johnson; a sister-in-law, Connie (Don) Ransbottom of
Huntington, WV; a sister, Kay (Frank) Norton of Sarasota, FL; several nieces
and nephews including a special niece, Lisa Ransbottom McComas of Huntington
and a host of friends. The family will receive friends on Thursday after
11:00 AM at Beard Mortuary a procession to the cemetery will leave the
funeral home at 1:00 PM.
