Obituary
Michael L. “Mitch” Mansour, 81, of Huntington, WV, died Monday August 8, 2011 at Cabell Huntington Hospital. Services will be held on Saturday at 11:00 am at Holy Spirit Orthodox Church with Fr. John Dixon officiating. Burial will follow with military honors conducted by Post 16 Veterans Honor Guard at Woodmere Memorial Park. He was born February 14, 1930 in Huntington, WV a son of the late Elia and Marie Yazbek Mansour. He was a graduate of Huntington High School and attended Marshall University and University of Alabama. He was an Air Force Veteran having served during the Korean War. He was the former owner of Mansour’s Original Market and Flowers, Fruits and Things. He and his wife are proud founding members of the Holy Spirit Orthodox Church where he served as Treasurer and former President of the Board. Mitch supported and was a member of several civic and charitable organizations including the American Legion Post 16, Elk’s Lodge #313 BPOE, Huntington Rotary and an honorary member of the Ceredo Rotary, Red Cross, Huntington Museum of Art, City Club of Huntington, he was a Big Green Member and a member of the Guyan Golf and Country Club. He is survived by his loving family which includes his beloved wife of fifty years, Melanie Koury Mansour, four children, Mallory and Andy Brinkhorst of Lexington, KY; Megan and Jeff Mynes of Huntington; Mark and Jeanette Mansour of Huntington and Margo and Bert Waisanen of Morrison, Colo. Their joy was multiplied three fold when grandsons Alexander Brinkhorst, Micco Waisanen and Zachary Rankin joined the family. He is also survived by two sisters Emily Shemas and husband, James of Toledo, OH and Rosalie Summers of Charleston, WV; a treasured brother, Dr. George Mansour and wife, MaryAnn of Lansing, MI; a sister-in-law, Michelle Koury Smith and husband, Roger of Austin, TX and a host of nieces, nephews and many cherished friends. Flowers will be appreciated; those who wish may make memorial contributions to the Holy Spirit Orthodox Church or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Memphis, TN. The family will receive friends on Friday from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. and from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Beard Mortuary. A Trisagion prayer service will be held at 7:30 p.m.
