Obituary
JAMES THURMAN KNIGHT, 80, of Milton, husband of Clara I. Knight, went to Heaven on October 26, 2011 at the VA Medical Center in Huntington. He was born on June 24, 1931 in Huntington, a son of the late Chauncy and Garnet Hager Knight. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by sisters, Mary Ward, Hilda Wyrick, Norma Wyrick, Doris Knight, Jean Evelyn Knight, Ruth Knight, and Betty Fulkerson; brothers, William C. Knight and Robert Knight. In addition to Clara, his wife of 58 years, he is survived by a sister, Beverly and her husband Dr. Joseph Billups of Kenova. Mr. Knight and his wife married after his return from Korea where he served from April 2, 1951 as a Tanker in the Second Infantry Division of the U.S. Army. He received the Combat Infantry Badge for excellent performance of duty under enemy fire in Korea. We wish to thank the VA Hospital staff members Leigh Ann Wilson, Cindy Holley, Bryan Perry, Ronnie and Dee Hatfield, Tina Adams and Juanita Wise for all their help. Funeral services will be conducted on Sunday, October 30, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at the First Church of the Nazarene in Huntington with Pastor Robert Weaver and Dallas Moore officiating. Burial will follow at Bicker Cemetery. Friends may call one hour before the service at the church. Beard Mortuary is assisting the family.
