Garnet Holbrook, 88 of Kenova, WV went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 1, 2013 at Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 3, 2013 at 2:00 pm at Beard Mortuary with Pastor Patrick Elliott officiating. Burial will follow at Spring Hill Cemetery. He was formerly employed at Houdaille Industries and the American Red Cross. Garnet was born on June 7, 1924 in Huntington, a son of the late Lacey and Anna Bishop Holbrook. Garnet is preceded in death by two sons, Gary Lee and Ronald William Holbrook. He was a member of the Spring Valley Freedom Baptist Church for 15 years and was a former Deacon. Garnet loved his church family very much. He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Irene Webb Holbrook; four daughters, Linda Piccirillo of Huntington, Temia Gail Shanks of Huntington, Patsy Gruenenfelder of Dallas, TX, and Sandy Wilson of Dayton, OH; thirteen grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren. Friends may call from 1:00 pm until time of service on January 3, 2013.
