Obituary

Isabel Rose Redling joined her loving husband Matthew in eternal life with the Lord on Saturday January 9, 2016 at the Emogen Dolin Jones Hospice House, Huntington, WV. Isabel was born on August 30, 1934 in Weehawken, NJ to Vincent and Beatrice Raine. She was educated in Catholic schools her whole life and worked at a prestigious law firm in New York City until her marriage to Matthew in 1960. In 1966, the Redling family left New Jersey and moved to Huntington, where she officially declared herself a “Mountain Momma” for the state she adopted and loved so very much.  Isabel was deeply involved in her Catholic faith and loved her parish family at Our Lady of Fatima. As head of the Women’s Guild, she started the annual OLF Spaghetti Dinner, worked with the Our Lady of Fatima RCIA program helping and instructing new converts to the faith in the teaching of the church, was class mother to her children as they attended the grade school and was a fixture at Mass until her health made it too difficult to attend. She gained local fame as the voice of “Mother Wisdom” on the top rated morning radio show at WKEE FM entertaining us with her quick wit and unbelievable humor.  Mrs. Redling was preceded in death by the love of her life, her husband Matthew, her sister Mary Satzinger, sister Joan Thorpe, and brother and sister-in-law Vincent and Joan Shanley Raine. She is survived by her children Mary Redling, Monica Rimer and Sheila Redling of Huntington, WV, Matthew and his wife Tracy Redling of Basking Ridge, NJ. She was adored and affectionately called “Bubbles” by her grandchildren Joseph Rimer of Huntington, WV, Charlie Rimer of Rutland, VT and Lucia Ellen Redling of Basking Ridge, NJ. She is also survived by her brother Walter Raine, his wife Karen of St. Petersburg, FL and many nieces and nephews that she loved so dearly. Visitation will be at Beard Mortuary  on Wednesday January 13th from 6pm – 8pm with a Christian Wake Service at 7pm. The funeral mass will be held at 11:30am on Thursday January 14th at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church  Burial will follow at Woodmere Memorial Park.
