Kenneth Gail Wright
(July 29, 1927 - August 15, 2018)
Kenneth Gail Wright, 91, of
Huntington, WV and formerly of Gassaway, WV passed away on Wednesday, August
15, 2018, at the Chateau Grove Skilled Nursing Facility in Barboursville,
WV. He was born July 29th, 1927, in Piney, WV, the son of the late Lot and
Rosa Elder Wright. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Mary Carolyn
Wright (9-07-1977), a son, Stephen Gail Wright (12- 13- 2016); sisters, Mary
Tennant, Madge Bostaph, Grace Haught, Sylvia Crawford; brothers, Chester,
Denzil, Junior, and Henry Wright. He was a US Navy Veteran, a Free Mason,
“jack of all trades”, craftsman, fisherman, hunter and gardener. He was
known as Dad, “Pop”, Kenny, Kenneth, and Gail. He retired from Columbia Gas
Corporation in 1981 after a 30-year career that began in Elkins, took him to
Gassaway in 1960 where he was a foreman and over the operations of the
Frametown Compressor Station. An accomplished welder and pipeliner, he
spent many summers as the chief inspector for Columbia Gas overseeing
hundreds of miles of pipeline construction throughout the eastern
seaboard. Surviving is his son, Kenneth Dean Wright (Judy) of Huntington,
seven grandchildren, Nika Anne Hettlinger (Marc), Jana Kathleen Stoner
(Ryan), Bradley Dean Wright (Samantha), Mara Wright Sutphin (Richard),
Wesley John Wright, Sara Elizabeth Wright, (all of Huntington) and Jessica
Carolyn Lemasters (Jeff) of New Martinsville, WV. Six great-grandchildren,
Kathleen Anne, Carolyn Gail and Christopher “Topher” Wesley Stoner, Hampton
Dean and Campbell Anne Hettlinger, and Annie Garrett Wright. As a seven-year
resident at Chateau Grove, their staff and residents are also considered
“Kenneth’s family”. The personal care they provided in their own loving
special manner was greatly appreciated and will always be remembered. A
grave side service for family and friends will be held at Greenlawn Memorial
Park, New Martinsville, WV at 1 pm on Tuesday, August 21, 2018 with his
granddaughter, The Rev. Dr. Jana Kathleen Stoner presiding. Beard Mortuary
of Huntington is in charge of arrangements.
