Marguerite Parsons
(Mat 20, 1922 - March 16, 2018)
Marguerite Parsons, beloved wife,
mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away March 16, 2018 in
Charlotte, NC. She was born in Beckley, West Virginia on May 20, 1922. She
was a graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School and Marshall University in
Huntington. She is preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Forrest L.
“Frosty” Parsons and her grandson, Patrick Matthews. She is survived by
daughters Lee (W. S. “Smoke”) Matthews, Cindy (Don) Kinney, and Susan (Ren)
Wheeler; granddaughters, Dru Matthews Schuetterle, Amy Kinney (Michael)
Hicks, and 4 great-grandchildren. Marguerite obtained her Master’s Degree in
Education as well as doing work toward her Doctorate. She was a teacher
with Cabell County, both in the classroom and to students who were
homebound. She was a wonderful cook, an extremely talented seamstress, and
gifted singer that had previously sung in several professional choruses and
choirs. The most important things in her life were always her faith in
Jesus Christ as her personal Lord and Savior and her love, devotion and
caring for her family. She served the Lord faithfully for over 50 years at
the former Highlawn Baptist Church in Huntington. Her voice and her legacy
live on in the hearts of the many who love her. A celebration of her life
will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Friday, March 23rd at Beard Mortuary,
Huntington, with Rev. Robin Crouch, officiating. Burial will follow at
Woodmere Memorial Park in Huntington. The family will welcome friends one
hour prior to services.
