Obituary

Marguerite Parsons
(Mat 20, 1922 - March 16, 2018)

Marguerite Parsons, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away March 16, 2018 in Charlotte, NC.  She was born in Beckley, West Virginia on May 20, 1922.  She was a graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School and Marshall University in Huntington. She is preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Forrest L. “Frosty” Parsons and her grandson, Patrick Matthews.  She is survived by daughters Lee (W. S. “Smoke”) Matthews, Cindy (Don) Kinney, and Susan (Ren) Wheeler; granddaughters, Dru Matthews Schuetterle, Amy Kinney (Michael) Hicks, and 4 great-grandchildren. Marguerite obtained her Master’s Degree in Education as well as doing work toward her Doctorate.  She was a teacher with Cabell County, both in the classroom and to students who were homebound. She was a wonderful cook, an extremely talented seamstress, and gifted singer that had previously sung in several professional choruses and choirs.  The most important things in her life were always her faith in Jesus Christ as her personal Lord and Savior and her love, devotion and caring for her family.  She served the Lord faithfully for over 50 years at the former Highlawn Baptist Church in Huntington.  Her voice and her legacy live on in the hearts of the many who love her. A celebration of her life will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Friday, March 23rd at Beard Mortuary, Huntington, with Rev. Robin Crouch, officiating.  Burial will follow at Woodmere Memorial Park in Huntington. The family will welcome friends one hour prior to services.
