Dr. Walter K. Yates

Dr. Walter K. Yates, 94 of Huntington, WV passed away on Sunday, October 7, 2018 at Emogene Dolin Hospice House. Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 1:00 p.m. at Beard Mortuary with Rev. David Lemming officiating. Entombment and Military services will follow at Ridgelawn Memorial Park. He was born November 30, 1923, son of the late Walter B. and Nelle Kinstler Yates. He was also preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Teresa Yates. He was an Air Force Veteran and a member of Lewis Memorial Baptist Church. Dr. Yates was retired from H.I.M.G. Prior to his term at HIMG he was in private practice for nearly 50 years. He is survived by his loving wife, Betty Jo Weibel Yates; two sons, Greg Yates of Huntington and Rick Yates and wife, Crystal of Barboursville; two daughters, Jane Hess and husband, John of Huntington and Beth Shelton and husband, Hayse of Elkins, WV; grandchildren, David Billups, Andy (Jenna) Hess, Gregory Yates, II, Sarah (Curtis) Parker, Jason Hess and Ryan Henson; great-grandchildren, Payton, Benji, Max, Allie, Dallas, Lincoln and Lilianne, and a special friend, Glenna Hurt. The family will receive friends after noon on Thursday at Beard Mortuary.
