Dr. Joe Richard "Dick" Hannan
(June 14, 1922 - January 19, 2019)



Dr. J. R. “Dick” Hannan, 96 of Huntington, WV passed away on Saturday, January 19, 2019 at St. Mary’s Medical Center. He was born June 14, 1922 in Huntington, WV son of the late Charles Malcolm and Edith Nibert Hannan. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brothers, Malcom, Raymond and Tom Hannan. Dr. Hannan was a retired dentist with practicing over 50 years in Huntington and Logan. He was a graduate of Huntington High School, Marshall University and University of Louisville School of Dentistry. He was an Army and Navy veteran. He was a member of Johnson Memorial United Methodist Church, a former member and past president of Huntington Dental Society, served on Green Acres Board of Directors, a former member of the Elks Lodge, and an 18th degree Mason. In his younger years he enjoyed initiating Horse Shows for Junior Chamber of Commerce, Cabell Huntington Hospital, Lavalette Volunteer Fire Department and Barboursville Lions Club. He is survived by his wife, Betty Ann Copeland Hannan; a daughter and son-in-law, Debbie and John Mitchell of Batesburg, SC; three sons and daughters-in-law, Rick and Patty Hannan of Huntington; Bill and Susie Hannan of Huntington and Jeff and Priscilla Hannan of Pipestem, WV; grandchildren, T.R. Hannan, Joshua (Marcus Simms) Mitchell, Rheney (Jake) Dearstyne, Justin (Leslie) Hannan and Jay (Sarah) Hannan and great grandchildren, Cora and Shelby Hannan.  Those who wish may make memorial contributions to the American Red Cross or charity of one’s choice.  Private family services will be held. Beard Mortuary is assisting the family.
